1970S COUGARS GAME-USED JERSEY
$806.90 (eBay)
This is an amazing piece, although the price was likely depressed by the uncertainty of its origin. What is evident is that it’s a vintage Durene jersey, manufactured by Gunzo’s, with light but evident game use. But where was it used? Hard to say. It could be a Chicago Cougars sweater, worn during one of that team’s three WHA seasons (1972-75) by Bob Liddington. Liddington, who wore the number 7 for each of the team’s three seasons, does not appear to have worn the A for the Cougars, at least not in any team photos. So it’s more likely that it was worn by someone on the Long Island Cougars, the North American Hockey League af liate of the Cougars for two seasons. Although that would make this sweater less valuable, it’s no less unique or presentable. This is a truly rare item.
