13 Must-Have Sundin Singles
1989 Swedish Semic Elitserien Stickers #72
Sundin’s very first collectible was issued as part of a Swedish league sticker series. Despite a decent production run, it’s incredibly hard to come by – likely because most were used as intended and stuck to a page in a sticker album, leaving few intact copies. The autograph in this image was obtained after the fact, and is not part of the standard sticker
2018-19 Upper Deck Chronology Letterman #L-TO-MS
Who says they don’t make ‘em like they used to? These inserts from this late release offer a solid design, a limited print run (just 15 copies) and a challenge to acquire all six letters that should keep even the most dedicated player collector chasing it for months.
1996-97 Black Diamond Run for the Cup #RC13
Collectors who have gone back to focus on ‘90s inserts rave about the design and scarcity of singles in this set. Limited to just 100 serial-numbered copies, it’s one of his most challenging chase cards.
1996-97 Upper Deck Game Jerseys #GJ13
It speaks to Sundin’s place in both the sport and the hobby that he was one of just 13 superstars selected to appear in hockey’s first-ever game-worn memorabilia set. Add in an attractive design and a limited print run and this card belongs among his key singles.
1990-91 Kraft #42
Found in two-card panels that needed to be trimeed from the back of a Canadian Kraft Dinner box, this single is brutally tough to find in Mint condition...unless you were lucky enough to obtain one of the pre-cut Salesman Sample copies.
1991 Star Pics Autographs #50
Sundin’s first signature card is an affront to all that is good and pure about design. Why did the folks at Star Pics insist on the player signing over the card-back text instead of a pretty sharp-looking front image? Abomination or not, it’s very tough to track down and well worth owning.
2001-02 BAP Update Country of Origin #CO54
A clever concept, a colorful patch swatch from a Team Sweden jersey and a print run of just 10 copies. This card is as close to perfection as it gets.
1990-91 Score #308
This Score release is the only one of his RCs to picture him in his Team Sweden sweater from the World Juniors, a reminder of a time when companies could use rookies before their NHL debut.
1999-2000 Topps Autographs #TA5
Some might find the horizontal orientation of the autograph offputting, but we love the way the on-card sig meshes with one of the most attractive designs of the decade. It’s just a beautiful card.
1991-92 Swedish Semic Elitserien Stickers #323
Sundin was already established in the NHL, but Semic knew its collectors still wanted stickers of their hero. He’s seen here in his Djurgardens jersey, but with the Nordiques logo, making for a striking look.
1990-91 Upper Deck #365
Another popular RC, this one earns a spot on the basis of an eye-catching photo that features a Swedish flag alongside a Nordiques banner as the background.
2009-10 Artifacts Frozen Artifacts Jersey/Patch #FAMS
This list requires a representation from Sundin’s brief sojourn in Vancouver, and this card fits the bill. A great photo, two pieces of memorabilia and a print run limited to 25 copies leave this card on countless Sundin want lists.
1997-98 SP Authentic Sign of the Times Autographs #MS
Sundin became a fixture in this SPA staple, often appearing alongside some of the game’s greatest legends on multi-signed cards. But this, his first, is our favorite for the crisp design and the bold, hard-signed auto that pops off the front.
