PRODUCT PREVIEW: 2020-21 O-PEE-CHEE PLATINUM HOBBY
Lasy season’s edition of O-Pee-Chee Platinum was arguably the biggest product of the year, and certainly kept more than a few shops afloat during the early weeks of the lockdown. No surprise then that the 2020-21 edition promises many of the same elements, along with some rookie content that was absent from the main OPC set upon which it is based. Hobby boxes promise one autograph as well as several parallels and additional inserts.
BASE/PARALLELS
The complete base set features 150 veteran stars and 50 Marquee Rookies. As with the 2020-21 Upper Deck Extended Series, OPC Platinum will feature rookies who debut through February 12. That’s a later cut-off date than previous seasons. A total of 13 parallels have been announced for hobby packs, with Aquamarine, Yellow Traxx and Cosmic new to this year’s release. Numbered parallels combine to drop two per box.

AUTOGRAPHS/INSERTS
Rookie Autographs (1:50) make up most of the signature content in the product, which is one of the first to have on-card ink from the season’s freshmen. Similar to the base set, these have a slew of parallels:

• Golden Treasures – 1/1 Retro cards offer up a throwback-style design. Landing 1:3.33 packs, there are six base versions in every box. Parallels include Rainbow (1:20), Blue Rainbow (/149), Purple Houndstooth (/15) and Golden Treasures (1/1). Select cards also have Red Autographs (1:160). Rounding out the checklist are three additional insert sets: Best in the World (1:15), Photo Driven (1:27), and Sweet Selections (1:23). Although these don’t have the same extensive parallels list, some cards in each of the three insert sets have hobby-exclusive autographs.
