THE PERFECT 9-POCKET SHEET
1969-70 O-PEE-CHEE #138
Tony O’s RC just screams vintage hockey, what with the posed, o-ice photo, the brown waeboard blocker, and the overstued pillows. It’s been slabbed more than 650 times by PSA, most of any card in the series.
2005-06 SP GAME USED ENDORSED EQUIPMENT #EE-TE
This is a perfectly designed card built around a massive swatch cut from one of Tony’s leg pads. The material is the perfect shade to make the auto pop. That print run of 5 assigns it to white whale territory.
1970-71 O-PEE-CHEE #234
If you ever busted ‘70-71 OPC, you remember the impact of this black background popping out of your pack. That’s design perfection. Track down one of the rare black bottom border variants – if you can.
1971-72 BAZOOKA #29
This box-back card is undoubtedly Tony’s toughest single to track down, and it’s arguably more important than his RC. If you do find one, it’s likely to be a ratty, kid-cut copy. Don’t hesitate to grab it.
1974-75 TOPPS #214
There are scores of cards featuring Tony and his brother, Phil, but this one tops them all thanks to that heart-stopping photograph. We like to think he kicked this shot aside just before it crossed the goal line.
1970-71 O-PEE-CHEE DECKLE EDGE #32
These inserts – named for the intentionally rough-cut edges – were a playground favorite back in the day, thanks to the B/W photography and color “signatures.” Interesting to note how Tony’s changed over time.
2008-09 OPC PREMIER BLACK SPECTRUM #3
The bold design and 1/1 print run are notable, but what makes this card pop is that autograph. Tony always delivered an every-letter beauty that made any signed card of his worth owning.
1972-73 O-PEE-CHEE TEAM CANADA #NNO
Set aside a design that ranks among the worst of all time. This card is a must-have as a memento of a time when he was at his absolute best. Sad in hindsight to know that Tony felt the Summit Series negatively impacted his career.
1972 SEMIC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP #231
This international set focuses on European stars who competed in previous World Championships but features a few dozen NHLers as well. Tony’s single remains brutally tough to track down in North America.
