10 CAREER-DEFINING STEVEN STAMKOS CARDS

-

2013-14 Panini Titanium Milestone Goal Scorer Jerseys Patch #MI-SS

Stamkos spent 2012 rewriting the record book. On March 13, he scored his 50th goal of the season to become the sixth player in NHL history to notch multiple 50-goal campaigns before his 23rd birthday. Over the next three weeks, he tallied his 53rd goal to break Vincent Lecavalier’s single-season team mark, then set a new NHL record by scoring his fifth overtime goal of the year. On the final day of the campaign, he notched his 60th, a total that remains his career-high. This single, with a print run of just five copies, features an eye-catching design and offers an oversized patch swatch.

2014-15 Upper Deck Clear Cut Captains #CCCSS

The previous season started out as a nightmare for Stamkos, who saw his dream of playing for Team Canada in the 2014 Olympics shattered when he suffered a broken tibia in an awkward collision with the net in early November. He returned to action on March 5, the same day captain Martin St. Louis was dealt to the Rangers. Stamkos was an obvious choice to replace his longtime linemate. Now in his seventh season with the C, he’s the longest-serving captain in team history. This acetate single, randomly inserted in UD series 1 packs and serial numbered out of 100, delivers the perfect mix of style and substance, and can usually be found for less than $50.

2017-18 Upper Deck Team Canada

Gold Foil Signatures #120

As one of the premier players of his generation – he was named to the NHL’s 2010s AllDecade Second Team in 2020 – Stamkos should have been a constant on Canada’s national teams. Injuries and misfortune have kept him out of the Olympics, but he’s answered the call at every other opportunity. He earned gold with the World Junior team in 2008, silver at the World Championships in 2009, and was a member of the winning side in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. If NHLers attend the Games in Beijing, he’s a good bet to don the Maple Leaf again.

This single is a tough short print that features his unique signature. While it has deteriorated over the years, it’s still highly prized by collectors.

2018-19 SP Game Used Banner Year #BAS-SS

This certainly was a banner season for Stamkos. He tallied his 700th career point on Dec. 10, 2018. On March 18, 2019, he scored goal No. 384 to pass Lecavalier for the most in franchise history. Fittingly for a team player like Stammer, it was the same night that the Lightning clinched the first Presidents’ Trophy in franchise history. “You’re just not prepared for moments like this,” Stamkos said after the 4-1 win over Arizona. “There are only two goals that have made me feel like this. That was the 60th in Winnipeg and this one here.” This card features a cut from a banner used at the 2018 All-Star Game in Tampa, where Stamkos captained the Atlantic Division.

2020-21 Upper Deck Extended Day With The Cup #DC23

After battling to overcome a core injury that sidelined him for 211 days, Stamkos played just five shifts in the 2020 Stanley

Cup Final … but he made those five shifts count. Stepping off the bench for the first time late into the first period of Game 3, he danced around Dallas defender Esa Lindell before launching a bullet that will be remembered as one of the most dramatic goals in Final history. The tally led the Lightning to a 5-2 win that turned the series in their favor. Stamkos wouldn’t take the ice again until he was handed the Cup by

Gary Bettman after the Lightning clinched the title in Game 6. This single, part of an ongoing series from Upper Deck, is an ideal memento of this spine-tingling moment in Stanley Cup history.
