-

WHAT IS IT?:

There’s no such thing as too much of a good thing. That’s why UD is keeping the party going with a third series of its flagship brand, offering more veterans, more Young Guns, and a slew of retro inserts.

THE BASICS:

There’s a 200-card shell set (#501-700), along with 50 short prints that combine to drop 1:4 packs. This group includes 30 Young Guns and 20 1st Round Rookies, a subset for rookies taken in the first round of the NHL DraŒ. Parallels continue to be a big part of the draw, including French (Vets 1:60; SPs 1:120), Clear Cut (Vets 1:192; SPs 1:288), Exclusives (/100), and High Gloss (/10).

Also look for UD Canvas Base (#271-360 1:8) and Young Guns (#361-390 1:48), plus new Legends (#391-405; 1:192) and AllStar Weekend (1:192) subsets. Each card offers the spectrum of 1/1 Printing Plates. UD Canvas Black & White Variations add to the chase with Base (1:120), Young Guns (1:270), and Legends (1:1,080).

CHASE HIGHLIGHTS:

Cards in the three-Tier 1997 Collectors Choice Commemorative set combine to form a three-piece puzzle (T1 1:48; T2 1:72; T3 1:144). 1997-98 SPx revives the die-cut NBA design with Sky Blue parallels for veterans (1:60) and rookies (1:40). 1999 History Class is a die-cut set with both veterans (1:40) and rookies (1:60), along with Bronze (/250) and Gold (/50) parallels. 2006-07 Black Diamond Retros come in four different star tiers (1:58, 1:86, 1:100, and 1:400). ese also have Ruby (/100) and Printing Plates parallels. 2007-08 Upper Deck Retro brings veterans (1:8) and Young Guns (1:24), along with Exclusives (/100), High Gloss (/10), and Printing Plates (1/1). Acetate fans will appreciate Clear Dominance (1:120; Gold /25) while Smooth Grooves (1:30; Sapphire /150; Gold /25) is printed on PETG card stock.

Other insert sets include the ‘90s-inspired Black Diamond Dominance (/1,000; Gold /25), Dazzlers (Blue 1:24; Pink 1:144), HoloGrFX (1:120; Future Famers 1:504), and Day With e Cup (1:1,000).

WHAT DO YOU THINK?:

Upper Deck’s flagship brand has never disappointed. We expect this one to deliver the goods as well.
