2022 23 UPPER DECK ICE
WHAT IS IT?:
A er a couple of years of pandemic-related turmoil, Ice is ready for a full run at the 2023 market with acetate stock, Ice Premieres, and the return of Exquisite Collection. Hobby boxes deliver one autograph or memorabilia hit, and all autos, other than base parallels, are hard-signed.
THE BASICS:
e 250-card base set kicks off with 100 veteran stars and 50 standard rookies, which land one per pack.
Parallels include Green (1:2, Rookies 1:3), Orange (1:9, Rookies 1:18), Purple (1:18, Rookies 1:36), Ice Blue (1:180, Rookies 1:360), new Greyscale (/99), and Black (1/1). Collectors can also chase premium base parallels with autographs and/or relics, including White Snowflake Autos (veterans 1:320, rookies 1:160).
e set is garnished with 100 Ice Premieres, with varying print runs of 1,299, 999, 499, 249, or 99 copies. Hobby-exclusive parallels include Green (/599), Red (/299), Gold (/99), and Black (1/1).
In addition, look for Ice Premieres Autos (/199 or less) and Ice Premieres Auto Patches (/10) exclusively in Hobby boxes.
CHASE HIGHLIGHTS:
Glacial Graphs (1:288) return as do Signature Swatches (1:576). Both offer Black parallels. Sub Zero has both veteran Stars (1:21) and
Rookies (/999 or /599) subsets. Both have Gold versions (Stars /8, Rookies /24). Ice Crystals bring a die-cut design. Like Sub Zero, vets (1:5) and rookies (1:12) fall at different rates. Parallels include Frigid (/99) and the new, hobby-exclusive Neon (/10).
Rip cards return with Frozen in Ice (1:24). Collectors can choose to keep these intact or tear them open to find Ice Premieres Minis, which also have Gold (/99) and Black (/15) versions. e die-cut
Ice Crystals line adds Hobby-only Neon Variants (/10).
Hobby packs also offer a slew of 2022-23 Exquisite Hockey cards, including Exquisite Collection Material Signatures which have both autographs and memorabilia. Base versions are numbered and come with Gold (/5) and Black (1/1) parallels.
ere are also Exquisite Collection Rookie Signatures that have either 99 or 49 copies, depending on the player. Gold (/25) and Black (1/1) versions are here as well.
Taking things back in the design department are 2003-04 Rookie Patch Auto (/25) and 2009-10 Rookie Patch Auto (/25) cards.
Collectors can also land Exquisite Collection Rookies (/349) that have Blue Spectrum (/199), Gold Spectrum (/49), and Black (1/1) parallels.
