Gary Vee in Box Form

-

One of Topps’ highlights at the 40th National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago in August, was the unveiling of the 2019 Topps X Gary Vee Direct 360 trading card set, where boxes containing complete sets were sold at the company’s booth.

And Gary Vaynerchuk lost count of how many of the boxes he autographed for fans bringing them to his table.

Interaction with fans and collectors made the five days at the show “literally the best week of my life,” Vaynerchuk told Beckett’s

Eric Norton on the Fat Packs podcast.

Really?

“Yeah, man, I’m literally sad that it’s Saturday night [at the show] and I can’t wait for Atlantic City. I’ve just got [NSCC] #41 on my mind,” Vaynerchuk told Fat Packs. “I’ve had a blast. I got to hang out with fans. I’ve signed a bunch of stuff and now they’re making tons of money on ebay, and that makes me happy (laughing). People in the industry, other dealers that I respect and like . . . it’s just been real fun.”

As for the set in the ubiquitous yellow box, Vaynerchuk explained how the concept was launched.

“Topps and I did an insert in Series 2 [Baseball],” he said. “I was also in Ginter, and we also did, quietly, a direct set that only Bryce Harper and [Francisco] Lindor have done – I’m the third one. It’s here, and it’s an incredible set. There are some insert cards [to chase] where you get to go to dinner with me, go to a Yankee game with me. It was a fun set and includes my favorite prospects, my favorite cards to collect when I was a kid, and the players I admire currently. It’s a 41-card set. Really cool.”
