2020 PANINI HONORS FOOTBALL MIXES PAST WITH PRESENT

-

2020 Panini Honors Football dabbles in the past, bringing it to the present. This takes on a couple of forms. For starters, buyback autographs are a key part of the release, highlighting original cards from the past, some with fresh autographs. Other parts of the checklist go back in time to look for design inspiration, albeit for entirely new cards.

An online-exclusive through Panini’s website, boxes have four total cards, two of which are autographs.

CHECKLIST OVERVIEW

According to Panini, one of those autographs is a Recollection Collection. These are original cards that have since been signed for this release. Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Barry Sanders and Joe Montana are among the signatures available.

Graded originals are also available.

These are buybacks of cards that originally came out with signatures that come graded. Basically, other than the grade, they’re the same as they would have been found in the pack.

For some of the throwback designs, these put a new spin on star players’ Rookie Cards. The layout is the same but a couple of major differences jump out. First, photos are new. For most, the bigger deal is the addition of autographs.

Honors does have some rookie ink as well, so it’s not all vets and stars from the past.

Other than buybacks and Recollection Collection autographs, all cards in the product (including base) have no more than 99 copies each.

Boxes go on sale on Wednesday, January 20 through their dutch auction format. The price starts at $800 per box and will drop every five minutes. Collectors can buy in at any point with the price they’re willing to pay. The price drops continue until the product sells out.
