2021 Panini Limited Football sees one of the hobby’s earliest super premium lines return for another year. Sure, it looks a lot different than it did in the mid ’90s, but that’s in keeping up with the evolution of the hobby. Today, the high-end nature comes through in the autographs and memorabilia cards.
Hobby boxes, which consist of three packs, have three total hits: a rookie patch autograph, another autograph and a memorabilia card.
The 100-card shell set means that it’s key players only. All are done on thick stock to further emphasize the product’s premium lineage.
Parallels, which combine to land one per hobby box, include Silver Spotlight (/149), Gold Spotlight (/75), Ruby Spotlight (/49), Amethyst Spotlight (/15), Emerald Spotlight (/10), Printing Plates (1/1) and Sapphire Spotlight (1/1).
Rookie Patch Autographs cover key players from the season’s draft class. Base versions top out at 299 copies with additional Silver Spotlight (/99 or less), Gold Spotlight (/75 or less), Ruby Spotlight (/49 or less), Amethyst Spotlight (/25 or less), Emerald Spotlight (/10 or less), Printing Plates (1/1) and Sapphire Spotlight (1/1) versions also available.
Rookie Patch Autographs Variations, which are also numbered to 299 or less, flip things vertically. These have similar parallel levels and print runs.
More first-year ink is available in Rookie Autographs. The checklist for these runs deep with more than 50 different signers. Parallels come in Silver Spotlight (/99 or less), Gold Spotlight (/75 or less), Ruby Spotlight (/49 or less), Amethyst Spotlight (/25 or less), Emerald Spotlight (/10 or less), Printing Plates (1/1) and Sapphire Spotlight (1/1).
Limited Membership carries a small checklist of stars while Ring of Honor Autographs is all about big-time legends. In both instances, base versions have 99 or fewer copies with a variety of tougher parallels to go alongside them.
2021 Panini Limited Football has some booklet autographs as well. Draft Day Signature returns. Yes, these have both memorabilia and an autograph, but they also show the player in the moments of their name being called at the draft.
Partnership Dual Booklets have ink from two teammates.
As far as memorabilia inserts go, Rookie Jumbo Jersey (/199 or less) has oversized swatches from some of the year’s key freshmen.
The set also looks back on the brand’s history with 2000 Limited Tributes, which take it back 20 years to 2000 Leaf Limited Football. In addition to these are case hit 2000 Limited Tributes Limited Edition.
