WHO’S TO BLAME FOR CARAVAN?

Belleville News-Democrat - - Opinion -

Letter writer Cheryl Meyer blames the Democrats for the Honduran caravan approaching our border. Shouldn’t she blame Czar Donald Trump and the Republicans for this fiasco since they are in control? After all, the U.S. policy regarding Honduras demands strengthening a democratic government, promoting human rights, enhancing economic prosperity, and improving long-term security.

So, rather than falsely accuse the Democrats, shouldn’t Meyer ask why the Republicans continue to send aid to Honduras, since the Hondurans are not honoring this policy?

I wonder who’s behind tricking the Hondurans into approaching our border, only to send them away, so naïve Americans would feel compelled to vote Republican?

Like Meyer, I believe our borders should be protected from illegal entrance, but I say to her, now is not the time to vote Republican, as she suggested, because Americans cannot afford to give this 45th president more power to continue undoing all that Americans hold dear.

How could Meyer support a president who lies all the time, who’s for taking Medicare and Social Security away, who’s for giving insurance companies the right to take away coverage for ( pre-) existing conditions, who gives the rich much and crumbs for the middle class, who removes all regulations that would keep our environment safe, and who’s hell-bent on undoing all that our forefathers put in place for a better U.S.?

Think twice, Meyer, or you will surely regret it. – Frankie Seaberry, Centreville
