FACT CHECK THE PROPAGANDA

Belleville News-Democrat - - Opinion - – Steven Lane, Trenton

There we go again, Republicans continue to refuse to fact check their propaganda. One writer simply took Donald Trump’s mid-term propaganda and submitted a letter without checking if what he was saying was truthful. It wasn’t! Another writer didn’t vote for Barack Obama because he was a second-rate senator but is a big supporter of a third-rate reality show host. That explains a lot! And another tried to describe the Democratic Party, only to describe the president and the Republican-controlled Congress.

We still have Republican writers inferring that Trump’s “Zero Tolerance” immigration policy is a continuation of George W. Bush and Obama’s policy. Not true!

The undeserved windfall for the wealthy and corporations, as predicted, has created a yearly trillion-dollar deficit for the foreseeable future. Any gains for the lower and middle class have been wiped out by inflation, higher interest rates and Trump’s tariffs. Note that Trump’s family benefitted greatly by the tax cuts.

Another writer tried to blame Democrats for the homicide rate, especially the black on black homicides. What about all the mass shootings committed by whites? Only when we eliminate the influence of the National Rifle Association will our politicians develop a strong national gun policy.

Admiral William H. McRaven stated that Trump’s attack on the press is the “greatest threat to democracy” he’s seen. Trump: “You know why I do it? I do it to discredit you all and demean you all so when you write negative stories about me no one will believe it.”
