The wall is necessary
The anti-President Donald Trump/pro-illegal alien crowd likes to argue against a wall by saying the number of illegals caught at the border is down and that the crime rate by illegals is lower than that of legal citizens. For the sake of argument let’s say those stats are accurate. Statistics show that 361,993 illegal aliens were apprehended in fiscal 2018 compared to 413,377 average yearly apprehensions during President Barack Obama's time in office and 1,643,679 apprehensions in 2000, when Bill Clinton was in office.
Depending on varied sources and years, the Border Patrol apprehension success rate is anywhere from 40 to 81 percent. Using the best rate of 81 illegals caught for every 100 attempts to cross leaves an estimated 68,778 nameless people who entered our country undetected last year. Democrats somehow think that is acceptable? Sept. 11, 2001, showed us it only takes one lapse in national security to have deadly results. Care to bet a loved one’s life that not one of those 68,778 will commit a violent crime against them? The only acceptable number of Americans killed by an illegal alien is zero.
Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi said a wall is “ineffective.” The men and women working the southern border front lines say that “a wall works and is absolutely necessary.” Are you going to listen to our professional border agents or the out-to-lunch Democrats who won’t even meet with them?
