Golfers will get a chance to tee off to make a difference in the lives of children in Bryant during the Swingin’ for a Reason Charity Golf Tournament June 14 at Hurricane Golf and Country Club.

“Swingin’ For a Reason is our eighth annual golf tournament to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Saline County,” Director of Development Karissa Mcdonald said.

It will be a four-man scramble with two flights at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

A light breakfast will be available before the first flight and lunch provided by Bank OZK will be before the second flight.

Mcdonald said the Club is adding something new to this year’s event. They are selling

500 tickets for a helicopter drop. Tickets will match numbered golf balls the helicopter will drop over a target. The ball closest to the target wins $1,000. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased on the Club’s website, at the Club or from any board member.

The drop is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. Alan Rook will be the pilot.

There will be hole contests including closest to the pin and longest drive. The putting contest is sponsored by

First Electric Cooperative. All par 3s will be prize holes with the chance to win $10,000 on one hole and a trip package on another.

Complimentary beverage service will be available for players.

Players can pay $80 for a mulligan package with six mulligans, one sure putt, hand grenade which allows them to pick up the

ball and throw it, and one helicopter drop entry.

Mcdonald said the tournament can have 22 teams per flight.

First and second place per flight will be awarded after each flight.

Travis and Brittany Wood are the tournament’s s presenting sponsors. Fleming is the supporting sponsors.

Additional sponsors are Fence Brokers, Inc., Arvest Bank, Walmart, Bank OZK, B&L Drywall, Essilor, Middleton Heat & Air and First Security Bank.

Mcdonald said the Clubs operates two sites and gets to make a difference in the lives of more than 1,900 children every year.

“This tournament give players the opportunity to continue to support that mission,” she said.

The cost to participate is $500 per team. Visit www. bryantbgc.org to register or learn more about sponsorships.

“A lot of people love playing golf,” Mcdonald said. “Why not do it where you can help make a difference in the lives of kids.”
