ONGOING EVENTS

Saline County members who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to register for the Griefshare program held at Benton Church of the Nazarene. This nondenominational program features Christ-centered, biblical teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one.

The DVD seminar features nationally respected grief experts and real-life stories of people, followed by a small group discussion about what was seen on the DVD. Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned to their daily life routines. Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. You will find encouragement, comfort, and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member, or friend.

You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief and that you do not need to live in bondage as a slave to certain emotions. You will learn valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future.

Griefshare will be held every Thursday for 13 weeks from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the church, located at 1203 W. Sevier St. in Benton. First session begins April 18 and runs through July 11. To register or for questions, call Pastor Brady Lane at 501-860-2830 by April

Homeschool Hour is set from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. each Wednesday at Herzfeld Library in Benton. Children ages 6 and older are invited to join every Wednesday to hang out with other homeschooled kids and complete a different activity every week. Makerspace, geography, cooking, engineering and more, are topics.

Making It Wednesday will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. each Wednesday at Herzfeld Library in Benton. Patrons ages 18 and older can take an afternoon craft break from their week each Wednesday. A new feature project will be presented each week, but guests are free to express themselves by going off-project if that is where the week goes. Various crafts and techniques will be used during the feature project. All projects will be appropriate for beginners with options to add more advanced techniques for the more experienced crafter.

CONGO MASONIC LODGE, located at the corner of Steele Bridge Road and Thompson Dairy Road, will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry the last Saturday of every month from April to September. Money raised will go to area charities. The public is encouraged to attend.

TAX PREPARATION SERVICES: Central Arkansas Development Council is seeking volunteers for its VITA/EITC free tax preparation services in Saline County. The service offers free electronic filing of federal and state tax returns. The service will be available at Herzfeld Library and the Benton Senior Wellness and Activity Center. BRYANT HISTORICAL SOCIETY has changed its meeting date to the second Tuesday of each month, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at Boswell Library in Bryant on Prickett Road.
