Jr. Sox open Wolff with 2 wins
FAYETTEVILLE – The Bryant Jr. Black Sox opened the Chad Wolff Classic with two wins on Thursday in Fayetteville. The Jr. Sox downed Sicks Baseball (Richardson) 10-5 in their first game and shut out OKC Sandlot (Ubbenga) 8-0 in Game 2.
In the 8-0 shutout, Bryant’s Will Hathcote pitched a complete-game shutout, giving up four hits and a walk in five innings, while striking out three.
Bryant (15-2) got the scoring started early in the top of the first when leadoff man Lawson Speer, who went
4 for 4, singled to center before being erased on a double play. But, a single by Peyton Dillon, a walk by Ryan Riggs and JT Parker’s single plated Dillon for the 1-0 lead.
Speer singled to start the third, went to second on Dillon’s walk and stole third before swiping home
to make it a 2-0 lead after three.
The Jr. Sox opened things up in the top of the fourth when Hathcote took a one-out hit by pitch before going to second on
