Jr. Sox open Wolff with 2 wins

FAYET­TEVILLE – The Bryant Jr. Black Sox opened the Chad Wolff Clas­sic with two wins on Thurs­day in Fayet­teville. The Jr. Sox downed Sicks Base­ball (Richard­son) 10-5 in their first game and shut out OKC Sand­lot (Ubbenga) 8-0 in Game 2.

In the 8-0 shutout, Bryant’s Will Hath­cote pitched a com­plete-game shutout, giv­ing up four hits and a walk in five in­nings, while strik­ing out three.

Bryant (15-2) got the scor­ing started early in the top of the first when lead­off man Law­son Speer, who went

4 for 4, sin­gled to cen­ter be­fore be­ing erased on a dou­ble play. But, a sin­gle by Pey­ton Dil­lon, a walk by Ryan Riggs and JT Parker’s sin­gle plated Dil­lon for the 1-0 lead.

Speer sin­gled to start the third, went to sec­ond on Dil­lon’s walk and stole third be­fore swip­ing home

to make it a 2-0 lead af­ter three.

The Jr. Sox opened things up in the top of the fourth when Hath­cote took a one-out hit by pitch be­fore go­ing to sec­ond on
