- By Dana Guthrie dguthrie@bentoncourier.com

The Benton School Board has called a special meeting Monday night to consider a policy outlining the time period in which classified personnel are allowed to consider contracts that are offered to them.

If approved, the policy will give employees a specific number of days from of the receipt of their contract for the following school year in which to return the signed contract to the superintendent’s office.

Failure of an employee to return the signed contract within the period after receipt will be considered as a resignation by the employee. The policy also states that no further action on the part of the employee, the superintendent or the school board will be required in order to make the resignation final.

According to the notes on the policy, the suggested time limit will be 30 days from the receipt of the contract, but the board can consider other time periods.

The board will also consider a request from the technology department for the purchase of replacement computers at a cost of $99,536.72 and replacement projectors at a cost of $69,570.38. If approved, the purchase will be made from the regular technology budget.

The board will also discuss the student handbook and other student policies from the upcoming 2019-20 school year, along with personnel recommendations

The meeting will begin at

5:30 p.m. in the Professional Development Building, located at 211 North Border St.

All meetings are open and the public is encouraged to attend.
