Herzfeld Library to host Quorum Court
The Herzfeld Library will play host to this month’s meeting of the Saline County Quorum Court.
The library requested to hold tomorrow night’s meeting during last month’s meeting of the justices of the peace. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
On the agenda for the meeting, the JP’S will consider an appropriation ordinance in order to fund construction for the Saline County Sheriff’s Department.
“(The Saline County Sheriff’s Office) is planning on building a (facility) for their vehicles for their command center,” said Justice of the Peace Josh Curtis during a meeting of the finance committee earlier this month.
The ordinance will transfer $30,000 from the Sheriff’s Bond Fund line item and $50,000 from the Sheriff’s Fine and Restitution Payment Fund line item to the county general fund. The combined total of $80,000 will then be appropriated.
A second appropriation ordinance in the amount of $114,000 will also be considered. If approved, the funds will be transferred from the Sheriff’s Federal Drug Control Funds.
The JP’S will also consider the appointment of William “Bill” Reagan to the Waterworks and Sanitary Sewer Public Utilities Board (Woodland Hills).
If approved, Reagan will take the place of Monroe Cates, who recently passed away.
Also on the agenda, a rehire request from the Office of Emergency Management.
All meetings are open to the public and attendance is encouraged. The library is located at 1800 Smithers Dr. in Benton and will begin at 6:30 p.m.
