EH Club holds monthly meeting
The Sharon Extension Homemakers Club met July 18 at the Saline County Fairgrounds with 19 members present.
The meeting was opened by Lynda Westbrook leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Ora Lee Yates, president, presented the business session.
Thought for the month was “Just because you don’t see anything happening doesn’t mean God isn’t working.”
The devotional was presented by Raye Carroll, quoting the following scripture from Matthew 22:37: “Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This scripture is also mentioned in Luke 10:27 and Deuteronomy 6:5.
Roll call was answered by members telling who they admired the most.
June volunteer hours totaled 293.
The dumplings for the fair were prepared by nine members.
The Saline County Fair will take place September 3 through 7. Fair books will be available shortly. The program, titled “Food Preservation,” was presented by Peggy Price and Theresa Boles. Price passed out handouts telling what one should know about preserving food at home. She made pickles for members to sample. Boles’ presentation included all the steps necessary for canning, freezing and drying food.
She made preserves and salsa.
Eye openers were presented by the following members: Beverly Garrett and Lucille Bagley, a decorative flower arrangement made with tightly rolled up newspaper.
This was a project made at the Sunshine Club; Marge Dixon, colorful animal quilt made for her great grandson; Lynda Westbrook, various shades of pink quilt; Sylvia Nalley, etched glass, yard flags.
The meeting was then adjourned.
Members will meet Aug. 15 at the Saline County Fairgrounds for their annual potluck picnic.
