School board to con­sider build­ing ex­pan­sion

The Ben­ton School Board will con­sider a pro­posed ninth grade ex­pan­sion dur­ing its last school board meet­ing be­fore the start of the 2019-20 school year.

Little Rock-based Nab­holz Con­struc­tion has sub­mit­ted a bud­get sum­mary to­tal­ing $9,265,127 for the project.

The doc­u­ments also in­clude pro­posed de­duc­tive al­ter­nates, as well as sub­con­trac­tor and sup­plier bid re­sults. If ap­proved, the project is ex­pected to take 58 weeks to com­plete from the date of no­tice to pro­ceed.

Ben­ton High School Prin­ci­pal Curt Barger will present a Pan­ther Pride Award to Ryan Taneja.

Taneja won first place in the 201819 In­ter­na­tional Avi­a­tion Art con­test for the state of Arkansas. He com­peted in Cat­e­gory III with other 14 to 17-year-old stu­dents from across the state. This is the fourth time that Taneja has won the com­pe­ti­tion.

Other items on the agenda in­clude:

• A con­tract dis­clo­sure for Holly Bur­ris.

• Stu­dent trans­fer re­quests.

• The ap­point­ment of Chris Hin­son as dis­trict trea­surer.

• Per­son­nel recom­man­da­tions.

• De­part­men­tal re­ports.

The meet­ing will be­gin at 5:30 p.m. in the Pro­fes­sional Devel­op­ment Build­ing, lo­cated at 211 North Border St.

All meet­ings are open and the pub­lic is en­cour­aged to at­tend.
