Date set for Bryant dog park opening
A “leash-cutting” grand opening celebration has been scheduled for the Bryant Bark Park Project. The ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 14.
Organizers are still finalizing details about the event.
Bryant Animal Control Director Tricia Power said the event will feature giveaways and the “wheel of prizes.”
“The dogs are welcome to bring their people with them,” Power joked.
The dog park project in Bryant has been in the works for years, but was also put on hold because funding was not available.
In May, the Bryant City Council approved funding for the construction of a dog park, as well as improvements to Ashley Park.
“It’s amazing to watch it come together after you work for so long,” she said.
She credits volunteers with the Dog Park Committee and the Bryant Parks Department for the project’s success.
The new park, which will be located at Alcoa 40 Park, will feature separate areas for both large and small dogs, as well as a double gate at the entrance. In both area there will be two surfaces to accommodate different dogs and their interest.
The park will include benches, picnic tables, water fountains and clean up stations donated by Arkansas Veterinary Emergency and Specialists in Little Rock.
There are plans to host fundraisers to add amenity at the parks to improve it.
