Lake Norrell FD to hold fish fry and auction

The Lake Norrell Fire Department Fish Fry and Auction will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 14, at the Lake Norrell Community Center at Lake Norrell.

The menu will include catfish, fried shrimp, chicken strips, slaw, beans, hush puppies, french fries, iced tea, lemonade and desserts.

Catering will be provided by Riverside Grocery and Catering. The cost is $15 for adults, $10 for children 6 to 11, and kids 5 and younger are free.

There will be a live auction with auctioneer­ing provided by the Saugey family. Item donations are welcome. Anyone wishing to donate an auction item can call Ricky Scruggs at 501-680-6473 for pickup.

The annual fish fry is a fundraiser for the department, benefittin­g both the fire department and the firefighte­rs who serve their community.

The Lake Norrell Fire Department, officially known as the Lake Norrell Area Fire Protection District, was founded by Dorothy and Gene Forsyth, Herman Reeves and Tom Allen in 1979 to serve the Lake Norrell area.

Fire Chief Ronnie Forsyth, the son of founders Dorothy and Gene Forsythe, carries on the family tradition of community service.

Anyone who lives in the fire district can join the department and volunteer in any capacity. Training is the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Thompson Station, located at 12795 Avilla

West in Alexander.

Board meetings are open to the public and are held on the third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. at Thompson Station.
