Rep. Mayberry presented 2019 Statesman Award
State Rep. Julie Mayberry, of Hensley, was recently awarded the 2019 Statesman Award by Family Council Action Committee.
Mayberry received the award for making an A on the 2019 Family Council Action Committee legislative report card. Recipients of this award are recognized for their votes during the 92nd General Assembly on the 25 bills in the report card. Mayberry received her award Thursday at the Capitol in Little Rock.
Mayberry is currently serving in her second term as a state representative and works in media and advertising for Spirit Publications Inc.
For the 92nd General Assembly, Mayberry serves on the House Public Transportation Committee, the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee and the House Aging, Children and Youth, Legislative and Military Affairs Committee.
During the 2019 legislative session, Mayberry sponsored HB 1385, now Act 983.
Act 983 is a new law that effectively prohibits liquor stores from opening near a public or private daycare facility licensed by the state of Arkansas.
Mayberry and her husband, Andy, currently reside in Hensley, and have four children.
The award was presented to Mayberry by Ken Yang, political director of Family Council Action Committee based in Little Rock.
“Legislators regularly face tough votes at the Capitol and their hard work, good votes, and dedication to Christian family values are often unknown to the public,” Yang said. “We chose votes on bills based on our core belief in promoting, protecting, and strengthening traditional family values. We are thankful that Rep. Mayberry’s votes on those bills reflect our mission. We are pleased to present Rep. Mayberry with the 2019 Statesman Award.”
Family Council Action Committee is slated to present awards to legislators through 2019.
