Headlee C. Caldwell, 99, of Benton, passed away Friday, Sept. 20. He was born May 19, 1920, in Griffithvi­lle, to the late Bratton and Audie Caldwell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Caldwell; a son, Dwight Caldwell Sr.; and a grandson, Greg Philamlee.

Headlee was a member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church. He was a great gardener and was known for sharing his fruits and vegetables with his friends and family and could often be seen walking or going for a morning swim to stay in shape. In his earlier years, he was part of C.C.C. Camp where he earned his high school diploma. Headlee and his wife, Wilma, were very active members of the Eastern Star. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason.

He is survived by a daughter, Betty Philamlee (Jim); a daughter-in-law, Norma Caldwell; three grandchild­ren, Jimmy Philamlee (Joyce), Dwight Caldwell (Angie) and Monica Irving (Jeff); 10 greatgrand­children, Abigail Irving, Ellie Irving, Jack Irving, Sam Irving, Rhett Caldwell, Jake Caldwell, Whitney Philamlee, Amy Flores (Michael), Emily Philamlee and Tage Philamlee; a granddaugh­ter-in-law, Tammy Philamlee; a great-greatgrand­daughter, Layla Flores; and a number of other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at the chapel of Roller-ballard Funeral Home, located at 306 S. Main St. in Downtown Benton, with Bro. Carl Higgs officiatin­g.

Serving as pallbearer­s are Jimmy Philamlee, Dwight Caldwell, Jeff Irving, Michael Flores, Rhett Caldwell and Jake Caldwell.

A time of visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service at Roller-ballard Funeral Home.
