Garld Wayne Rick­ford

Garld Wayne Rick­ford, 74, of Ben­ton, passed away Thurs­day, Oct. 24. He was born Sept. 12, 1945, in Brownsvill­e, Texas. Garld was a self-em­ployed build­ing con­trac­tor and a mem­ber of the Fish­ers of Men. He grew up in the Avilla Lutheran Church and later be­came a mem­ber of Old Union Bap­tist Church. Garld was an avid hunter and fish­er­man.

He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents, Marvin and Eula Rick­ford; and two brothers, Clif­ford Rick­ford (Pat) and Har­rold Rick­ford.

He is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife of 54 years, Frances Rick­ford; a daugh­ter, Cindy Rick­ford; a son, Matt Rick­ford (Gina); a sis­ter, Vir­ginia Scrog­gins; four grand­chil­dren, Shelby Haglar (Mar­cus), Ryan Rick­ford (Ha­ley), Wes­ley Mar­shall (Kristina) and Tan­ner Mar­shall (Kari); two great-grand­sons, Henry Haglar and We­ston Mar­shall; and a num­ber of ex­tended fam­ily mem­bers and friends.

Pall­bear­ers will be Brian Dren­nan, Ron­ald Dren­nan, Sam John­son, Jimmy Cates, Char­lie Hink­son, Jeff Mabry, Rusty Moore and Jessie Blay­lock.

Visi­ta­tion will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Mon­day, Oct. 28, at Ashby Fu­neral Home, with fu­neral ser­vice be­gin­ning at 2 p.m. Burial will fol­low at Bolin Ceme­tery in Paron. Pas­tor Philip Hink­son will be of­fi­ci­at­ing.
