Lacerra earns All-state

BRYANT – Bryant junior golfer Caitlin Lacerra earned All-conference and All-state honors this past Tuesday and Wednesday at the 6A State Tournament at Hurricane Golf & Country Club in Bryant. Shooting an 89 on Tuesday in the Central Conference Tournament, Lacerra came back to shoot an 80 Wednesday as she qualified to compete as an individual because the Lady Hornets failed to make the state portion of the tourney. It was Lacerra’s second straight year earning AllState.

“Team didn’t play great (Tuesday),” Bryant Coach Casey Mattox said. “Conditions were tough with the wind and it was cool. “Lexie (Tombrello) was unable to play due to an injury. Our team didn’t make it the second day, but Caitlin did.”

For the Central match on Tuesday, Cabot won conference with a 254, followed

by Conway (281), North

Little Rock (304), Mount St. Mary’s (325), Central (338), Bryant (351) and Northside (403).

After Lacerra’s 89 on Tuesday, sophomore’s

Haylie Horn and Taylor Moore both shot 131s.

North Little Rock’s Mackenzie Lee earned medalist honors for conference Tuesday in Bryant, shooting a 4-under 68. Mount St. Mary’s Isabel Chaidez followed with a 1-under 71. In the West, Har-ber’s Grace Kilcrease shot a 1-under 71.

It was Har-ber which took the girls state championsh­ip, shooting a 460 overall for the two days. Fayettevil­le (489), Cabot (520), Bentonvill­e (525), Conway (559), NLR (583), MSM (646) and Central (684) followed.

Lee took the overall medalist for state, shooting a 3-under 69 on Wednesday for a 137 (-7) total. Chaidez, 143 overall, shot an even par 72 Wednesday, with Kilcrease (144) shooting a 1-over 73 Wednesday. Lacerra shot a 169 (89, 80) for 10th overall, also earning All-state.
