The Saline Courier Weekend

National Library Week kicks off Monday

- Special to The Saline Courier

The Saline County Library will be celebrating National Library Week starting Monday by showcasing different resources and materials, highlighting their staff and participating in National Library Outreach Day.

National Library Week will, again, be virtual this year as the Saline County Library features the celebrations on its social media channels. Patrons will have the chance to share their favorite things about the library and be entered to win a Kindle Fire Tablet for doing so.

The theme for National Library Week this year is “Welcome to Your Library” and the Saline County Library is happy to welcome patrons back to the library for browsing appointments, limited computer reservations and curbside pickup.

From being able to stream movies and TV shows online with Hoopla and Kanopy to being able to download ebooks and eaudiobooks with Libby and Overdrive, the Saline County Library continues to provide priceless resources even from the comfort of one’s home.

Not only does the Saline County Library offer ways to stay entertained from home, they also offer educational resources such as Brainfuse and Lynda.com. With Brainfuse, students can get live tutoring on dozens of subjects for various grades and Lynda.com offers video training for hobbies such as learning an instrument or learning how to use Adobe products.

Saline County Library staff is also available to answer Facebook messages and emails if patrons have trouble accessing the different online resources, have questions about re-opening and more at sclhelp@salinecountylibrary.org.

National Library Week celebrations end on April 10, which is also the last day to participate in the Bookin’ It 5K.

The Bookin’ It 5K is being held to help the Saline County Library do away with fines for good. Participants can sign up by visiting the race website at https://bit. ly/bookinit5k.

This year, those interested can purchase items such as an aluminum water bottle, fanny pack and keychain. Those items can be found under the “Bookin’ It Extras” tab on the race website.
