BAUXITE – After a threegame losing streak in a tournament the week before, the Bauxite Lady Miners are now on a three-game 7-4A Conference win streak after downing Hope 11-3 this past Monday and De Queen 8-3 on Tuesday before blowing out the Fountain Lake Lady Cobras 14-1 Friday in Bauxite.

The Lady Miners improve to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play as they set the tone early against Fountain Lake, putting up nine runs in the opening inning. Bauxite was issued five walks, including two with the bases loaded, and got RBI singles from Bethany Harrell, Katie Wells, Carley Clark and Madalyn Ferrell for the 9-0 lead after one.

Bauxite got some twoout magic in the second as Wells doubled to start the inning before a fly out and ground out ensued.

But, Jaycee Mcclellan singled in Wells and Bryley Bowman switched places with Mcclellan with an RBI double to make it 11-10. Another RBI double, this one from Ferrell, made it 12-0 Lady Miner lead after two.

The Lady Cobras picked up an unearned run on a two-out error in the fourth to get on the board, but the Lady Miners got that run back and more with Haley Howard’s RBI ground out and Skylar Hoyt’s RBI double to set the 14-1 final in five innings.

Clark pitched two scoreless and hitless innings to start, walking two and striking out five for the win. Kaci West gave up the unearned run on two hits and three walks, striking out two in three innings.
