BAUXITE – After a 6-3 win over De Queen in 7-4A Conference play Tuesday, the Bauxite Miners won their second league game in a row Friday, handling the Fountain Lake Cobras 7-3. The Miners (11-5, 7-0) remain undefeated in conference action and scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away from the Cobras (8-6, 4-4).

Bauxite senior starter Jackson Regan went the whole way for the Miners giving up three runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks, striking out seven in a complete seven innings.

Bauxite was the first to strike as senior Easton Dinwiddie knocked in Hunter Ferrell, who walked, and Reece Rowland, who pinch ran for senior Junior Acosta (walk), with a 2-run single for the 2-0 lead after two innings.

The Cobras got back in it in the fourth as Brayden Branstetter plated a run with a sacrifice fly and Preston Riley singled in a run to tie things at 2-all.

The Miners responded in the bottom of the fourth, though, as Dinwiddie came through with a huge 2-run triple to put Bauxite ahead 4-2 after four. Ferrell and Acosta were both hit by pitches before the triple to provide the runs.

Bauxite extended its lead in the sixth when sophomore Aden Palmer singled and went to third on Acosta’s one-out single to center. Acosta stole second before Dinwiddie took a two-out walk to load them up. Senior Caleb Goines plated two with a 2-run double before Regan singled in the final Miner run to go up 7-2. Fountain Lake’s RBI double in the seventh set the final score before Regan induced a fly out and ground out to end it.

Dinwiddie had a big game at the plate going 3 for 3 with a triple and four RBIS. Palmer went 2 for 3 with a run, with Goines late double accounting for his 1 for 3 with two RBIS. Regan had a hit and RBI, with Acosta going 1 for 1 with a walk and a run.

In the 6-3 over De Queen Tuesday, senior Jackson Lindsey gave up three runs on nine hits and a walk, striking out five in six innings for the win. Senior Ethan Mathews pitched a scoreless seventh for the save. Dinwiddie went 2 for 2 with three runs, with Ferrell 2 for 3. Goines, Regan and Lindsey all had a hit and RBI in the win.

The Miners are back in action Tuesday, hosting Arkadelphia in more conference play.
