JPS to discuss ordinance, hear audit findings

The Saline County Quorum will meet Monday evening with two items on the agenda including the presentation of 2019 audit findings.

The meeting will begin as 6:30 p.m. in courtroom number 3 at the Saline County Courthouse. Prior to the meeting, the HR Committee will meet at 6 p.m. in the same location to discuss salary changes requested by Saline County Sheriff Rodney Wright.

The JPS will consider an ordinance amending the 2021 Saline County Budget. If approved, the ordinance would allow for the appropriation and transfer of funds.

The County Judge’s office has received a $500 refund of an insurance deductible and would like to appropriate the funds into the County Road Fund budget. A $2,346 refund of the workers’ compensation premium for 2020 has also been received and the judge’s office would like to appropriate the funds into the County General Fund budget.

The Financial Management Department has moved to payment of payroll benefits, such as health insurance through electronic transfer processing and the County Library pays the premiums for their employees monthly to the county. The County Judge is requesting to amend the 2021 budget and appropriate anticipated revenues in the County General Fund for the amount of $153,000 and appropriate the funds in the County General Fund budget.

The ordinance also contains a request to transfer and appropriate $10,000 from the County General Fund, Veteran Service Officer department to Part-time line item to pay part-time salary to assist in the support of the Veterans Office.

Additionally, the county judge has received $34,621.63 payment of 2021 insurance premiums from retirees and the Saline County Library and would like to appropriate the funds in the County General Fund budget.

The JPS will also hear an informational presentation on 2019 audit findings.
