Quorum committees to meet Tuesday
The Saline County Quorum Court Public Works and Safety Committee, along with the Finance Committee, will meet Tuesday evening with a full agenda.
The Public Works and Safety Committee will consider an ordinance to add new roads to the county road system. The roads include:
• 828 feet of Avilla Hills Cove.
• 1,025 feet of Ferndale Cove.
• 782 feet of extension of Saddle Ridge Road.
• 1,058 feet of extension of Reuben Drive.
• 1,317 of Indigo Valley Road. The committee will also consider two appointments to the Saline
County Public Library Board.
Susan Benzick has resigned as a board member and Allison Nolly is being considered for her replacement. If approved, Nolly’s term will last through June 30,2026.
Dustin Sanders has also resigned from the board, with Laine Holleran being considered
as his replacement. If approved, Holleran’s term will last through June 30, 2022.
A resolution honoring the Benton Lady Panthers Softball Team for their impressive 2021 season will also be considered.
The Lady Panthers finished 30-0 along with winning all 14 5A Central
Conference games played. The team also shut out 18 opponents and won all of their conference games by at least nine runs. They beat a number of Class 6A teams including Bentonville and Cabot twice, Bryant and Rogers.
Coach Heidi Cox was named Outstanding Girls Coach of the Year and Softball Coach of the Year.
Other items on the agenda include:
• A resolution expressing
the willingness of Saline County to use federal-aid surface transportation block grant programs funds to improve the Southwest Trail.
• A resolution authorizing the grant application process for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.
Items on the Finance Committee agenda include:
• An ordinance to amend the budget and appropriate and transfer funds.
• An ordinance appropriating revenue and establishing the compensation and appropriating funds of a new airport maintenance/attendant position.
• An action item concerning the Saline County Sheriff’s Office - movement of chief deputy pay to midpoint.
• An action item concerning the Saline County Sheriff’s Office - movement of detention lieutenant pay to budgeted amount.
The committee will also hear an informational presentation from the Saline County District Court regarding the transfer of funds to avoid fees.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in courtroom number 3 at the Saline County Courthouse. It is open to the public and attendance is encouraged.
