‘Rise and Shine’ summer activity packets available

“Rise and Shine,” a fun summer learning broadcast series designed to help K-5 students gain knowledge that aligns with Arkansas academic standards, continues on Arkansas PBS weekdays from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Families and students across the state are encouraged to extend the learning with "Rise and Shine" Power Packets, free summer activity kits for kids printed in both English and Spanish.

Power Packets are available for download or can be requested to be mailed directly to homes, daycares, summer camps and more at myarpbs.org/riseandshi­ne.

Additional­ly, “Rise and Shine” will feature the premiere of the second season of “Blueberry's Clubhouse” at 9:07 a.m. Fridays, July 23-Aug. 13, each week.

Produced in partnershi­p with the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, the original pre-k-2 children's program features Blueberry, a curious puppet guide, and her friends at Camp

Onomatopoe­ia participat­ing in fun, engaging and insightful summer activities across The Natural State. Season two of “Blueberry's Clubhouse” will include adventures in art, science and history, while emphasizin­g the power of empathy.

Each weekday, students can tune in to “Rise and Shine” for lessons led by Arkansas Teachers of the Year and featuring virtual field trips with partners across the state. Field trips for week two include:

•Toltec Mounds Arkansas Archeologi­cal Survey to learn about how found bones were used to create tools in the past.

•Scott Family Amazeum to learn about soldering.

•Mural tour to meet Jason Jones and learn about his interactiv­e robot mural in Rogers.

•Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub to learn about making a honey dipper from wood using a lathe.

•Little Rock Zoo to learn about body coverings.

Field trips for week three will include:

•Heifer Internatio­nal to learn about how to be a farmer and the important work farmers do.

•Arkansas Travelers to get an inside look at Minor League Baseball and all the things that happen in a ballpark.

•Museum of Native American History to learn about indigenous medicine and hear from Cherokee storytelle­r Gayle Ross.

•Arkansas Game & Fish Commission to learn about wildlife conservati­on efforts in the state.

•Mid-america Science Museum to learn how to build a bridge.

Other original segments each week will include science with “Robbie Rocket,” nutrition informatio­n with “Zach Lunch,” fitness through dance in “Time Out With Tay,” Mr. Steve, the Music Man literacy music videos and “When I was a 5th Grader” animated shorts.

In addition to broadcast, the programmin­g is now available ondemand through streaming devices, the Engage Arkansas PBS app and on the Arkansas PBS website.
