Marti had an engaging personality that was open, direct, and uniquely endearing. She loved out loud and loved many. Her ability to know herself gave credence to words of wisdom that touched many. She lived a life full of travel, volunteering, and fulfilling work. She leaves behind a legacy of impact from Presidential Libraries to Alpha-1 support groups and always found a way to be a support person to those around her. Her ability to build and maintain relationships through thoughtful communication was not just admirable but genuine and considerate, always stepping in to fill the gaps that life left open. She will be cremated and laid to rest in three places of entrenched meaning: Pere Marquette Park, Illinois Huialoha Church in Kaupo Hawaii, and her home in Lonsdale. She is already missed deeply.
Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, a memorial service will not be held at this time. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alpha1 Foundation at http://www.alpha1. org, or mailed to the Alpha 1 Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Coral Gables, FL 33134.
