The Saline Courier Weekend

Senate District 6

-

Name: Justice of the Peace Matt Mckee

Why did you pursue the position you are running for?

I see people trying to destroy our country. I believe the state legislature has to be a firewall to protect the people from the mandates coming out of Washington DC and from woke corporations trying to tell us what to think and how to act.

What prior experience do you have that is applicable to this position? How do you plan to use this experience?

I’ve been a Justice of the Peace in Garland County for the past 12 years and Chairman of the Quorum Court’s Finance Committee since 2015. I’ve seen how government mandates affect the everyday lives and businesses of the people. I’ve been a part of drafting laws and ordinances. I’ve been responsible for the oversight of and appropriation of hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars. As of April, Garland County is debt free.

Understanding the importance of relationships, and the ability to work together with other legislators to get things done for the people of District 6 and Arkansas is key to protecting everything from religious liberty to parental choice in education. As a husband, and as a father of four girls, I take these rights and responsibilities very seriously.

What plans do you have to improve Saline County/ your district?

The legislature must move quickly to eliminate the state income tax and other laws and regulations that stand in the way of business and prosperity in Saline County and all of Arkansas. We must make Arkansas more competitive with the surrounding states.

As a small business owner since 2009, I understand the day to day struggles faced by the people who create the jobs, products, and services we all enjoy. You should get to keep the bread you earn and make the decisions you believe to be best for your family and business.

Why should you get the people’s vote/ What makes you a better choice than your opponent?

I‘ve spent the last 13 years helping Republican candidates win elections in Garland County and around the state because I believe the principles in the Republican Party Platform make people’s lives more free and prosperous. I’m tired of electing Republicans who talk like conservatives but can’t seem to support common sense, platform legislation when they get into office. I have a record of standing up for what is right even when it isn’t popular.

Every Republican Justice of the Peace in Garland County agrees with me that my opponent does not have a conservative voting record and they, along with Saline County Justices Tammy Schmidt and Barbara

Howell, have endorsed me in this race.
