Name: Jennifer Carter

Why did you pursue the position you are running for?

This position is something that I am very passionate about. I have been working in the Collector’s Office for 10 years now. I started out on the front counter, then became the bankruptcy/mortgage coordinator, was promoted to office manager, and am now the Chief Deputy Collector. This office, the citizens I serve, and the people I work with are a huge part of my life. I am dedicated to the work that I already do in the Collector’s Office. I cannot imagine not stepping up and running for the position of Collector.

What prior experience do you have that is applicable to this position? How do you plan to use this experience?

My experience in the office has gained me invaluable knowledge and skills. I oversee the entire operations of the office and manage/ train a staff of over 15 employees. My responsibilities include opening/closing of the tax books and sending out statements. I process debits, credits, and exemptions to the tax books. I handle our publications, certifications, and payroll. I work with our budgets, auditors and oversee our 6 bank accounts. Most importantly, I balance every dollar we collect. With my experience in management and small business, I want to make the Collector’s Office the best that it can be. Please visit my website Carter4collector.com to learn more about me!

What plans do you have to improve Saline County/ your district?

I will be committed to providing a welcoming and friendly office that has an open-door policy. I will keep the citizens informed through our email and text subscriptions. I will be dedicated to looking for ways to improve our services and how we can make it easier on all citizens to do business with our office. I will keep the office up to date with today’s technology and will work at adding mobile pay options. As your Collector I will be very much involved in the operations of the office and to serving you.

Why should you get the people’s vote/ What makes you a better choice than your opponent?

I have the experience needed to run the office and I am ready for this job. I understand the operations of our office, the deadlines, and the laws that we have to follow. I won’t have to learn what our office does, I will be able to focus on the office needs and answer any of your questions on day one. My experiences and relationships within the county will provide a smooth transition as your next Saline County Collector. I would greatly appreciate your support and your vote in electing me as your next Collector in the Republican Primary on May 24th.
