Bryant Cub Scout Pack celebrates 50 years
Cub Scout Pack 3050 celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Feb.
25, with a Blue & Gold luncheon at Bryant First United Methodist Church.
The Pack has been sponsored by Bryant
First UMC since it began in November 1972, and received its official Charter in February 1973.
Current Cubmaster, Ryan Kennedy, led the program, emphasizing that over the last 50 years, although some things have changed, the constant has been the emphasis on family.
“For 50 years BSA Pack 3050, in partnership with Bryant First UMC, has provided an environment where families can come together to learn, explore, and grow,” Kennedy said. “I am proud to be the cubmaster of a pack that has been, and will continue to be, such an amazing resource for the families of our community.”
At the Blue and Gold Anniversary celebration, Pack 3050 welcomed several past cubmasters, including Bryant Mayor Allen Scott who led the pack from 2004-2007; Don Balch (2011-2015); and Anthony Owen (20152019).
“What I enjoyed most about being a Cubmaster is that I was able to watch the Scouts from Tiger through Webelos grow into young adults and learn new skills,” Scott said.
Scott also volunteers to sit on Eagle Boards of Review, the last step in awarding the Eagle Scout rank to young men and women in Scouts BSA.
Today, Pack 3050 has 47 male and female Cub Scouts registered, double the number registered the previous year. Cub Scouts learn about character development, citizenship, personal fitness and leadership in dens based on grade level. Kindergarteners start at the Lion rank, then move up through Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelo until they finally reach Arrow of Light in 5th grade. Then Scouts can choose to bridge over to a
BSA Troop.
As a Pack, Cub Scouts participate in a huge array of activities, including hiking, fishing, camping, STEM projects, building and racing Pinewood Derby cars, and community service projects.
Besides being fun, these activities offer opportunities for growth, achievement, and family involvement. Anyone interested in joining Pack 3050 can email bsabryantpack3050@gmail.com.
