Our family lost our loving sister, Barbara Jean Barnard, on May 16, 2023. Barbie was born Oct. 21, 1947 in Vallejo, Calif.

Barbie worked for the Arkansas State Medical Board. She retired in 2012. Her fellow workers pronounced her an ideal workmate due to her ready smile and warmth.

Barbie is preceded in death by her mother, Jean Perry Langley; and longtime companion, Jearol Toland.

She is survived by her cherished grandson, Brody Barnard; brother, Mike Perry (Carol); sisters: Debbie Owens (James), Jackie Roberson (Eddie), and Cindy Kisor (Jim); and foster son, John Todd. Barbie was a favorite aunt to her nephews and their children.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at Smith-benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, in Benton.

Preceding Mary in death are her parents, Robert Frank and Carrie Mae Hendrix; and siblings, Harold Hendrix, Wayne Hendrix, Joe Hendrix, Sonny Hendrix, Ralph Hendrix and Venita Webb.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 54 years, Raymond Rankin of Benton; son, Bobby Mezzell of Benton; sisters, Barbara Peveto, Ruby Fleet, and Wilma Williams; sisters-in-law, Clara Trull and Mary Farrow; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-, and great-great nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends who love Mary and will miss her always.

Graveside service officiated by Pastor Steven Ford will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, at Rosemont Cemetery, 1010 Military Road, with visitation from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Burial to follow.
