Sharon Extension Homemakers collect 102 blankets for Arkansas Children’s Hospital

Sharon Extension Homemakers Club met Dec. 21 at the home of Sylvia Nalley.

In attendance were 15 members and 1 guest.

Lynda Westbrook led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.

Patsy Wagner, president, conducted the business session.

Thought for the month: The golden opportunit­y you are seeking is in yourself.

The devotional was presented by Lisa Mitchell. Songs which touched her heart during the Christmas season were “Your Presence for Christmas” by the Ruppe Sisters.

Although we all enjoy presents for Christmas, it is His Presence that is important.

She played the song for the group, as well as “I Call Him Lord,” also by the Ruppe Sisters. She encouraged members to check out other spiritual songs recorded by this group.

Roll call was answered by members telling their most memorable Christmas memories.

Volunteer hours totaled 513.

Saline County has been participat­ing in providing pans of Chicken and dressing as well as chicken spaghetti to members of the community at Thanksgivi­ng and Christmas.

A state wide project was collecting blankets for Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and 102 blankets from Saline County were turned in to the State office.

State wide the total collected for the children’s hospital totaled 400.

Pat Bruton reported on the items that were delivered to Children’s Hospital: 30 teaching dolls, 27 pillows, 227 hats, 12 quilts, 10 blankets.

A game of bingo was played, followed by a gift exchange.

Donna Cornett led the noon day grace and a pot luck lunch was enjoyed by all.

The January meeting will take place at the Saline County Fairground­s Jan. 18. The hostess will be Lucille Bagley.
