Robert Carl “Robby” Hughes, Jr., passed away on Jan. 21, 2024, at the age of 68. He was born on Sept. 24, 1955, in Benton to his loving parents, the late Robert Carl Hughes, Sr. and Katie Ann (Mcfalls) Hughes.

Robby was a dedicated man who worked for over 30 years at Kroger. During his time there, he developed special relationsh­ips with his coworkers and regular customers. Known for his warm personalit­y and kind heart, Robby had a unique way of connecting with people and making them feel important.

Robby showed great empathy towards others. He had a remarkable ability to understand their needs and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His compassion extended beyond the workplace; he was actively involved in his community and constantly sought ways to improve the lives of those around him.

When not working or assisting others, Robby enjoyed fishing and bowling with friends and family. He was affectiona­tely nicknamed “Coach” by his family team. He found joy in spending time at Pleasant Hill Senior Services, where he could engage in friendly competitio­n and bond with fellow members.

Beloved by family and friends alike, Robby leaves behind cherished memories that will forever be treasured. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy Hughes of Benton; daughter Amanda Mills and husband David of Bauxite; son Eric Hughes and wife Leanna of Benton; grandchild­ren Evelyn Mills and Elijah Hughes; brothers Dr. Alan Hughes and wife Laurie of Little Rock and Mark Hughes of Benton.

Additional­ly, he leaves behind numerous other relatives and friends who deeply loved him and will forever miss his presence.

To honor the life of Robert Carl “Robby” Hughes Jr., visitation services were held on Thursday, Jan. 25, at Smith-benton Funeral Home, located at 322 N Market Street in Benton.

A funeral service was held on Friday, Jan. 2, at Parkview United Methodist Church in Benton. Entombment was in Rosemont Cemetery in Benton.

Robert Carl “Robby” Hughes Jr. touched numerous lives with his kindness and compassion. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of empathy and generosity will continue to inspire and guide those who strive to make a positive difference in their communitie­s.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Pleasant Hill Senior Services or to Parkview United Methodist Church in memory of Robert Carl “Robby” Hughes Jr.
