Cardinals slip past Beavers on Senior Night
HASKELL -- The Harmony Grove Cardinals are showing why they are one of the best teams in state after slipping past rival Glen Rose 54-53 on Tuesday.
The victory was more than the 24th win of the season, it marked the second straight conference championship for the
Cardinals and on Senior Night at Daniel Henley Fieldhouse.
Harmony Grove is currently 12-1 in league play and has won 19 of their last 20 this season.
Despite getting the win, Harmony Grove was in a dog fight all night, even trailing at the half. Walter Browning would pull the Cardinals with 25-22 late in the second quarter
with a big three-pointer.
Tied 44-44 in the fourth, Browning would grab a big steal before going in for the And-1 to give Harmony Grove the momentum for the rest of the game.
Harmony Grove would win the boards battle with 27 rebounds to the Beavers 19. The Cardinals also combined for six steals and three
blocks in the victory while shooting 48 percent from the field.
Glen Rose used the three to make a big splash, shooting at a 52-percent clip from range. However, the Beavers would only hit half their free throws while Harmony Grove shot 74 percent from the stripe.
