EFFICACY OF TNR
I WANT TO COMMENT on your article on trap-neuter-return (“Home Street Home,” July/August 2019). There was an article recently in a popular magazine that indicated that TNR does not work. That has not been my experience. Years ago, I had a problem with feral cats producing several litters of kittens every year. Over a period of several years, I trapped about 40 cats, had them sterilized, and released them.
It has been about 11 years since I have had any litters of kittens. Some of these cats are approaching 15 years of age, which I am sure you recognize is very old for a feral cat. This is particularly amazing when you realize that coyotes come through my neighborhood every night. TNR has certainly worked for me.
