The whole joyful Kit and Caboodle
THERE’S A WORD THAT COMES UP, time and again, when people talk about canine siblings Kit and Caboodle.
And it’s this: joy. After all, the two dogs radiate happiness — despite all the challenges they’ve faced since being born with serious neurological conditions. Abandoned at just eight weeks old, the two were lucky to be saved by a rescue organization. They made their way to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary a short time later.
The larger-than-life dogs turned three last September, and today they share a lot more than a birthday. They share a spirit and zest for life that far outweighs their physical limitations. Kit and Caboodle fall down a lot, but they just don’t care. Their infectious joy — there’s that word again — has made them favorites among all who meet them, and the loving care they’ve received has helped them live life to the fullest.
Over the past few years, physical therapy, hydrotherapy and exercise have certainly paid off for the siblings. Sure, they still don’t move like other dogs, but they are lean, muscular and athletic. They spend their time wrestling and playing together and going for golf cart rides or for walks in their specialized carts. They love seeing who can run farther and who can chase a stick or tennis ball faster. If they happen to fall down along the way, they just pick themselves up and keep on going, smiling the whole time and spreading a whole lot of (you guessed it) joy.
