Big hearts, open homes

a major role in local lifesaving efforts. And during times of crisis, when acts of kindness seem to blossom right before our eyes, fostering is a beautiful reminder of how willing people are to step up and assist those in need. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, organizations blasted out requests for more foster homes, and people around the country responded quickly.

Sugar

A chunky Chihuahua with some medical issues, Sugar is having a hard time finding the right home. Her medical care includes treatment for cherry eye and a bladder stone, and she needed a loving place to heal from her urinary tract issues before having eye surgery. Michelle offered to foster Sugar, thinking she’d make a perfect short-term addition to her family, which includes two other “lowrider” canine companions. “My boyfriend adores Sugar and she’s bringing a lot of joy to our lives during a pretty scary time,” Michelle says. “She’s helping us just as much as we’re helping her.”
