FREE WELLNESS DRIVE-THROUGH CLINICS HELP THOUSANDS

-

When Houston animal shelters closed because of the pandemic, Best Friends Network partner Friends For Life stepped up, like one does in Texas (and by that we mean in a big way). The shelter switched gears from taking in pets to organizing a drive-through wellness clinic and pet food bank so families could get supplies, food and preventive care for their pets free of charge.

Best Friends awarded Friends For Life a $10,000 grant to help cover expenses for vaccines, heartworm and flea prevention, heartworm tests, feline leukemia and FIV tests, and other needed supplies. In a single day, the clinic’s medical team can administer more than 1,000 doses of vaccinations and the pet food bank distributes more than 10,000 pounds of pet food. In fact, they’ve helped thousands of pets since they started and hope to inspire more shelters in the U.S. to offer free clinics in their communities. Sounds like when it comes to friends for life, they have a lot of them.
