Roly Poly has a neurological condition called cerebellar hypoplasia that causes her movements to be jerky and uncoordinated. Because she has a relatively mild case, she’s able to get in and out of the litter box on her own and move around pretty well. Her walk, often likened to marching, is especially endearing.
Cinnamon, on the other hand, is a bit of a medical mystery. She’s a talkative, outgoing cat who loves attention from people, but at a young age, she suddenly became unable to stand or walk. There were no injuries to explain it, and every test that veterinarians did came back inconclusive.
Some people might hesitate to adopt a cat with physical limitations, but Holly DeYoung thinks both of these special cats are perfect. A self-described “cat fanatic,” Holly got first-hand experience with feline mobility challenges when she volunteered for a rescue organization that helps cats with special needs. When she decided to adopt, she was looking especially for a cat with cerebellar hypoplasia.
She ended up with not one, but two lovable new friends. Together, Cinnamon and Roly Poly stole her heart, and she spoils them in return. Cinnamon gets supervised time out in the yard, and Roly Poly has a ramp so she can climb up into bed with Holly. They have window perches, a big cat tree and even a stroller. Clearly, this duo will enjoy plenty more doting in the days to come.
