New hardware for Major Houlihan
MAJOR MARGARET “HOT LIPS” HOULIHAN, named after the character on the hit TV series M*A*S*H, has a personality almost as big as her moniker. When this tiny black-and-tan puppy first came to the Sanctuary, she had an array of wounds and both of her front legs were broken. To look at her today, though, you’d never be able to tell. Major Houlihan is a healthy, happy, thriving puppy, thanks to the help she received from veterinarians and her foster families.
After a few days in a hot-pink cast, Major Houlihan was escorted to Las Vegas for surgery to have metal plates put in her front legs. Soon, she was back on her feet and could start doing puppy things again. With her new hardware, Major Houlihan moved into a foster home to continue her recovery, and she’s been making all sorts of new friends.
Major Houlihan has met and played with kittens (who aren’t much smaller than she is) and tolerant adult cats (who aren’t much bigger). But her favorite new playmate is a six-yearold dog named Leda who’s showing her the ropes and teaching her good manners. They play until they’re tired and fall sleep, and then they sleep until they start playing again. All that activity is helping Major Houlihan recover quickly and get her ready for her next big mission: adoption. We salute you, Major.
