SURVIVOR CAT HAS A KNACK FOR HELPING OTHER KITTIES

-

Soon after Poppy arrived at Best Friends in Los Angeles, he had to be rushed into surgery to repair a tear in his diaphragm. Once he was stable, it was brighter days ahead and off

Poppy went into foster care with

Kelsey Nisbett and Brendan

McNerney. They fell in love with the big orange-and-white cat and decided to adopt him.

The new permanent arrangement with Poppy didn’t stop Kelsey and Brendan from fostering other pets. Rather, it inspired them to do more. They focus on cats recovering from surgery, as well as shy cats, because Poppy is such a help. He makes friends with every cat and kitten who comes to them. In fact, it’s always only a matter of time before Kelsey and Brendan find Poppy playing with, curling up next to, and bathing each new feline friend.

The avuncular Poppy encourages the shy cats to trust. And he’s a gentle playmate to cats adjusting to life on three legs, for example, or recovering from other surgery. Little did Kelsey and Brendan know that, in saving Poppy, they would gain an amazing role model to help other felines with special needs. And ultimately, they’d be in a better position to save more lives. Well done, Poppy.
