Reunited and it feels so good

-

DOGTOWN RECENTLY HOSTED a longawaited reunion between one very sweet dog and her family. When

Stormy came to the Sanctuary from a nearby rescue group, her microchip led staff back to her family — who hadn’t seen her in six years. (Not a typo.)

Laura and Ervin Brafford had bottle-fed Stormy and her brother, and watched them grow as happy, squirmy little puppies. When the two pups disappeared from their fenced-in backyard, along with the family’s Chihuahua, the couple was devastated. They alerted the local humane society, asked friends and family to post about the missing dogs online, and put up flyers. They did everything they could to find their beloved family members.

Laura and Ervin never stopped hoping they would come back, and their younger children grew up hearing about the dogs they had never met.

Years later, long after the last flyer had gone up, the couple got a startling phone call. Stormy was at the Sanctuary, more than 300 miles away, waiting for them.

Their reunion was full of loving pats and gentle licks as Stormy met her family all over again. While the other two dogs haven’t been located (hey, never say never), for Stormy, it feels like she never left. She quickly settled in with her family and she dances along to Disney musicals with the younger children. She’s finally home, and this time, she’s there to stay.
