The perked-up pig

A PIG MAY NOT BE YOUR first thought when someone finds a stray animal, but Ivy was fortunate. When she arrived at the Sanctuary, the potbellied pig was covered in bruises and couldn’t use her right front leg. She wasn’t interested in food and seemed to have given up. But we weren’t about to give up on her.

Ivy needed lots of rest and time to recover — and once she had it, she started to perk up. She began to move around, sometimes using her snout for balance in place of her injured leg on short walks. Her tail started wagging like that of the new puppy pal she made, and she began snorting and oinking happily, asking for back scratches. Her days as a stray behind her, Ivy is now ready to find her own forever piggy paradise.
