■ PLAY THE NUMBERS This is one party that isn’t necessarily a case of the more the merrier. Guests will create a project for everyone, so unless your friends are prolific, think of 10–15 as a cutoff.

■ GIVE SOME NOTICE Send out invites about a month early so friends can start crafting.

■ KEEP IN TOUCH One week in advance, do one last call for RSVPs and give everyone the final head count.

■ ASK FOR HELP You’ll be busy crafting, too, so ask everyone to bring a dish to share. Our ideas, below, are store-bought bases embellished a bit.

■ CHOREOGRAPH EXCHANGE TIME When it’s time to start passing out gifts, give each person time in the spotlight to explain their project and show off their talents.
